Description

BayFarm intersection of Island and Mecartney accident hazard.

Accident-prone intersection during the hours of 7:30am-9am due to:
-morning commuters
-parents driving their kids to school
-elementary/middleschool aged children riding their bikes to school
-increased traffic to Starbucks

While we wait for a solution for this intersection, I urge you to add LANE MARKERS to the lanes and convert one of the three lanes to an addititonal left turn lane. To clarify, AN ADDITIONAL TURNING LEFT LANE ROAD MARKER. From Mecartney (driving west) and turning left onto Island.
Currently, there are 3 lanes (from the left to right)
1. turning left lane
2. Going straight lane
3. Going straight lane

Today, there are more automobiles turning left onto Island Dr. towards the BayFarm bridge than automobiles going straight. I urge you to put road signs on these lanes to indicate that the 2 left lanes can BOTH turn LEFT and the third lane remain going straight.

I urge this to be implemented before the new school year in August 2024.
